In the run-up to the highly anticipated September 21 governorship election in Edo State, Deacon Darlington Okpebholo-Ray, the Lead Spokesman of Team Asue Media Organisation (TAMO) and Deputy Director of Diaspora Media for the PDP Asue/Ogie Campaign Organization, has hailed Dr. Asue Ighodalo’s campaign as the most successful among all the candidates.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm program, Okpebholo-Ray highlighted Ighodalo’s extensive outreach, emphasizing his distinction as the only candidate to have toured all 192 wards across the state’s 18 Local Government Areas.
He further noted that Ighodalo’s influence extends beyond local borders, as the candidate has also embarked on an international tour across Europe, Asia, and America, engaging with Edo indigenes in the Diaspora. Okpebholo-Ray stated that this proactive approach has resonated deeply with stakeholders at home and abroad.
“Our candidate, Asue Ighodalo, has been ahead from the start,” Okpebholo-Ray remarked, adding, “He’s not new to anyone in Edo. Before other candidates even began their campaigns, Asue had already completed consultations with every key figure in the state, even before his emergence as the PDP flagbearer on February 22, 2024.”
In contrast to his rivals, including the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his running mate, Dennis Idahosa, Okpebholo-Ray suggested that Ighodalo’s campaign has maintained momentum without internal conflicts or delays.
Okpebholo-Ray also praised Ighodalo’s professional background as a lawyer, banker, and globally recognized business leader, describing him as a formidable candidate who can continue and expand on the developmental strides of the current Governor, Godwin Obaseki.
“Asue is not a pushover. He has achieved remarkable success in his career, and Edo State will benefit from his leadership. People are excited about the possibility of him leading the state, and many are thankful he has offered himself for this role,” Okpebholo-Ray concluded, confidently affirming that “the name on every Edo citizen’s lips today is Asue Ighodalo.”
