Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated the newly elected members of the State Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after their successful State Congress.
Speaking recently with journalists, Governor Oborevwori praised the peaceful nature of the Congress and expressed his appreciation for the unity within the party. He emphasized the importance of cooperation for the party’s growth and the state’s development.
“The congress was peaceful, and we’re thankful for the good weather today. You can see the unity in Delta State; that’s why there’s no crisis,” the Governor stated.
He urged the new PDP State Executive Committee to focus on maintaining party unity and strengthening its position, especially with the 2027 elections in mind. However, he warned against early politicking for 2027, emphasizing that the current priority should be delivering good governance to the people of Delta State.
The Congress, held at the Cenotaph in Asaba, was attended by 3,152 delegates, including the governor, his deputy, and other prominent leaders like former Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Senator Ned Nwoko, and Speaker Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor. The event was overseen by a PDP team from Abuja led by Prof. Frank Collins Okafor and monitored by INEC officials and independent observers.
Chief Solomon Arenyeka was elected State Chairman, with Mr. Moses Iduh as Deputy Chairman. Other elected officials include; Engr. Daniel Ossai (Vice Chairman, Delta North Senatorial District), Hon. Anthony Akpomiemie (Vice Chairman, Delta Central Senatorial District), Chief Emmanuel Amgbaduba (Vice Chairman, Delta South Senatorial District), Chief Isaacs Itebu (Secretary), Chief Chibuzor Uwajei (State Treasurer), Hon. Fidelis Adjogbe (Financial Secretary), Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu (Publicity Secretary), Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor (Organizing Secretary), Barr. Hessington Okolo (State Legal Adviser), Chief Mrs. Dora Sakpaide (State Woman Leader), Barr. Francis Okolie (State Youth Leader), and Pastor Alex Akemotubo (State Auditor), amongst others.
Outgoing State Chairman, Dr. Kingsley Esiso, praised the support of party leaders and encouraged the new committee to prioritize unity and the party’s winning spirit.
Prof. Frank Collins Okafor commended the smooth conduct of the elections and suggested that Delta PDP’s peaceful approach should be a model for the party nationwide.
