In a recent political statement, former Kano State governor and 2023 NNPP presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso expressed openness to the idea of running as Peter Obi’s deputy in the 2027 elections, under certain conditions.

In a video circulating on the X platform, duly monitored by Truth Live News, Kwankwaso, speaking in Hausa, emphasized his political seniority over Obi but hinted at possible collaboration, stating, “I’m bigger than Peter Obi politically… but I have no issue deputizing for him, provided some conditions are met.”

Kwankwaso, known for his political strength in Kano State, where he secured 38 out of 44 local government areas in the 2023 elections, suggested that mutual trust and collaboration would be key in any alliance with Obi. Despite his strong remarks about being politically more experienced, Kwankwaso is reportedly open to discussions with Labour Party leadership to explore strategic possibilities for the 2027 race.

The former governor has been a prominent critic of the current administration under President Bola Tinubu. Kwankwaso recently accused the federal government of political bias in distributing food palliatives, claiming that Kano’s share was directed to APC loyalists, not the state government. He described this move as a “derailment of democracy.”

This potential alliance between Kwankwaso and Peter Obi, who finished third in the 2023 presidential election with over 6 million votes, signals an evolving political landscape as 2027 approaches.
