Nigerian international Victor Boniface miraculously survived a horrific car crash in Germany on Sunday, just hours after leading Bayer Leverkusen to a thrilling 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.

The 23-year-old striker shared chilling footage and photos of the mangled car on social media, expressing gratitude to God for sparing his life. “God is the greatest” and “God says my time hasn’t come” Boniface wrote, still shaken by the ordeal.

According to German tabloid Bild, Boniface was a passenger in the Mercedes that collided with a truck on the A3 highway between Bad Camberg and Idstein. The driver lost control due to fatigue, causing the car to skid and overturn.

Fortunately, Boniface escaped with only minor injuries to his hand. Both he and the driver received medical treatment and have since returned safely to Cologne.

Bayer Leverkusen has confirmed Boniface’s condition, stating “He is fine.” The football community breathed a collective sigh of relief, grateful for the striker’s narrow escape.

This dramatic incident caps an eventful week for Boniface, who endured a chaotic trip to Libya with Nigeria’s national team last Monday. The team was forced to stay overnight at a remote airport, leading to a boycott of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Leverkusen will eagerly await Boniface’s return to action, hoping he’ll be fit for their UEFA Champions League clash against Brest on Wednesday.
