Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, has announced an upward review of the minimum wage to N80,000 for all state government employees.

In a press statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ini Emembong states that a committee headed by the Head of Service has been saddled with the responsibility to work out the implementation. The 16 man Committee has One Month to report on how the wage increase will be executed.

In order to ensure a seamless transition to the new wage structure, the governor has constituted an implementation committee, tasked with delivering a detailed report on the execution strategy within one month.

The committee, chaired by the Head of the Civil Service, includes key figures such as the State Civil Service Commission Chairman, the Ministry of Finance Permanent Secretary, and leaders from the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress, among others.
