The Nigerian Senate has begun screening seven newly nominated ministers after President Bola Tinubu’s recent cabinet reshuffle, which saw the dismissal of five ministers. The nominees include:

– Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction
– Muhammadu Dingyadi, Minister of Labour and Employment
– Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of State, Foreign Affairs
– Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Development
– Idi Muktar Maiha, Minister of Livestock Development
– Rt. Hon. Yusuf Ata, Minister of State, Housing
– Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, Minister of State, Education

The screening began after Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele moved a motion to suspend the chamber’s rule, allowing President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Senate Matters, Basheer Lado, to bring in the nominees for the plenary session. This process marks the beginning of a new chapter following Tinubu’s recent ministerial reshuffle.
