A devastating fire broke out at Ajah Market in the Lekki area of Lagos State on Sunday night, destroying shops and goods worth millions of naira.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the incident, stating that the fire started around 9 pm and ravaged several shops and stores containing combustible materials.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service quickly responded to the incident, containing the fire and preventing it from spreading to neighboring buildings.
LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, reported that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were recorded, as traders were not present due to the market being closed on Sundays.
However, properties worth a fortune were destroyed in the inferno.
