Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, representing Ondo South under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate alleged massive looting and financial mismanagement during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking on Tuesday during an appearance on Politics Today, a flagship program of Channels Television monitored by Truth Live News, the senator claimed that the Buhari administration inherited $18 billion from his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, but left the economy in an unspecified deficit.

“If you bring N100 billion and say this is what we want to spend this money on and anyone who doesn’t spend it right will face public execution, no one will steal again.

“If you look at what Jonathan left when he was leaving government, it was $18 billion but Buhari left it at a deficit of unknown numbers, so Buhari administration is a perfect example of what you have said – who left the economy in financial problems but now we are back.”

“One thing about Tinubu is that he will not steal Nigeria’s money, steal for what, he was comfortable before he came in”

The senator further alleged that the Central Bank of Nigeria, under Buhari’s tenure, refunded $22 million to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for funds that could not be traced. He urged the EFCC to thoroughly investigate these irregularities, adding, “EFCC should do their job on Buhari’s administration.”

“Buhari wasn’t comfortable when he came. Whether Buhari steal Nigeria money or not, he run Nigeria economy into financial problems, check the record in World Bank. In fact, Central Bank of Nigeria under Buhari refunded the sum of $22 million to IMF for money remitted but they couldn’t find the traces.. EFCC should do their job on Buhari’s administration”
