The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Zamfara State Council has issued an ultimatum to the state government to implement the National Minimum Wage of N70,000 by the end of November 2024.

Failure to comply will lead to an indefinite industrial action, effectively shutting down the state from December 1, 2024.

The NLC condemned the state government’s refusal to implement the 2024 National Minimum Wage Act, describing it as a betrayal of workers’ rights amid rising economic challenges.

The council stated that the failure to implement the minimum wage is a blatant disregard for the law, morality, and the well-being of workers.

All affiliate unions in the state have endorsed the ultimatum, and the NLC has called on all workers in Zamfara State to prepare for the industrial action.

The council assured of its unbending commitment towards advocating for the welfare of workers and ensuring that the government fulfills its obligations.
