Five staff of Ministry of Health, Ebonyi State, are currently in a very hot soup for allegedly diverting hospital materials in the state.
The governor of the state, Francis Nwifuru, who caught them in the act has ordered for their arrest with a view of carrying out a thorough investigations into the matter.
The suspects including Ndukwe Ayansi, have been handed over to the police for investigation and prosecution in line with the governor’s order.
Nwifuru was on his way for project inspection and sighted a Toyota Dyana truck, loading the materials from the warehouse in the ministry of health.
He drove in and made inquiries but not satisfied with answers given to him, he probed further and discovered that patients’ data registers, cards and a host of other documents were moved into the vehicle.
It was discovered that all the documents had been sold without government approval.
Speaking at the scene of the crime, the governor described it as sabotage to government efforts at repositioning the health sector.
“ You are selling government documents without approval on a Saturday afternoon.
“Our hospitals in the rural areas are requesting for registers and data entry forms and hospital cards.
“Sadly, the ones the government has produced are being sold by you”, he said.
