Linda Onyelabara, a talented Nigerian, has clinched victory in the 2024 Good Partners of China and Africa Chinese and English Singing Competition in Nigeria, taking home the grand prize of N500,000.
Emerging as the winner in the Chinese category, Linda captivated the audience and judges alike with her stellar performance.
Truth Live News gathered that while speaking to journalists after the event at the China Cultural Centre in Abuja, an elated Linda described her win as a dream come true.
“I came first in the first round and then got called for the finals. I only started practicing this week for today’s (Saturday) performance. I never imagined I’d win the first round, let alone the grand prize. I’m beyond excited!” she shared.
Reflecting on her journey, Linda revealed, “It all started back at university, where I studied Business Education while learning Chinese on the side. That dedication earned me a scholarship to China, where I completed a master’s degree in Chinese. This moment is the culmination of years of hard work.”
Other winners in the Chinese category included Glory Livingston and Yang Xin, who secured the second position with N300,000 each, while Yang Fan, Zhang Ji, and Deng Xiu Yuan claimed third place, pocketing N200,000 each.
In the English category, Tan Jian emerged victorious with N500,000, while Guan Xin and Wang Jia Yi won N300,000 each for second place. Chen Jun, Li Wei, and Qiu Liu Liu secured third place, taking home N200,000 each.
Mr. Yang Jianxing, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria and Director of the China Cultural Centre, commended all participants, emphasizing the event’s role in showcasing the universal beauty of music while strengthening the enduring bond between China and Nigeria.
