President-elect Donald Trump has promised to take immediate action on several key issues when he assumes office, including rolling back transgender rights and addressing immigration concerns.
Speaking at a young conservative event in Phoenix, Arizona, according to AFP, Trump pledged to “stop the transgender lunacy” and announced plans to sign executive orders on his first day in office.
Among the measures he outlined, Trump vowed to end what he described as “child sexual mutilation,” remove transgender individuals from the military, and ban transgender students from participating in sports and being taught in public schools.
He also reaffirmed his stance on gender, declaring that U.S. government policy would recognize only two genders: male and female.
In addition to transgender issues, Trump emphasized his hardline stance on immigration, pledging to initiate what he described as the “largest deportation operation in American history.” He also promised to designate drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, asserting that the U.S. would dismantle these criminal networks.
Trump’s remarks come as Republicans prepare to take control of both chambers of Congress and the White House, with a focus on pushing against policies supporting LGBTQ rights.
His statements also echoed broader promises for his second term, including a commitment to end the war in Ukraine, stabilize the Middle East, and “prevent World War III.”
The president-elect also expressed frustration with Panama’s control of the Panama Canal, suggesting that if Panama does not comply with the terms of the 1970s treaty, the U.S. would demand the canal’s return.
