Senate President Godswill Akpabio has called on Nigerians, especially those in Akwa Ibom State, to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he works to address the country’s economic challenges.

Speaking at his Constituency Briefing and Empowerment Programme in Ikot Ekpene, Akpabio described Nigeria’s economy as being on “life support” when President Tinubu assumed office.

He recounted a conversation with the president, saying, “I once asked him if he was excited about being president after seeing the state of the economy.

His response was, ‘I didn’t know it was this bad.’” Despite the difficulties, Akpabio expressed optimism that the current reforms, though painful, would yield long-term benefits for Nigerians.

During the event, Akpabio distributed empowerment tools such as farming equipment, vehicles, and food supplies to constituents, emphasizing the importance of using the resources to improve their livelihoods. He also announced education grants for students, who expressed gratitude for his support.

Akpabio praised Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno for fostering peace and inclusivity in the state, which he said has created an environment conducive to development. He also lauded efforts to unify the Senate and emphasized the importance of constructive opposition in governance.

In his closing remarks, Akpabio highlighted the need for collective effort in nation-building and assured his constituents of continued support and initiatives aimed at improving their lives.

He expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, describing him as the right person to lead Nigeria to economic recovery and growth.
