Gospel sensation Mercy Chinwo has accused her manager, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, of allegedly diverting a whopping $345,000 in royalties from her digital platforms and live events.
The singer, known for her powerful vocals and inspirational music, claims that Onyedikachukwu failed to disclose these earnings and neglected to pay her rightful dues.
Truth Live News gathered that the controversy escalated when the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) stepped in, filing a motion before Justice Alexander Owoeye to secure Onyedikachukwu’s arrest. According to Mrs. Bilikisu Buhari, representing the EFCC, the application was based on sections of the 1999 Constitution and the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, seeking to compel the manager’s appearance in court over alleged financial misconduct.
During court proceedings, Buhari emphasized that if Onyedikachukwu evaded arrest, the EFCC would resort to a public summons to declare him wanted. The court, convinced by the EFCC’s arguments, granted the application and set January 24 as the date for Onyedikachukwu’s arraignment.
In an affidavit supporting the EFCC’s application, investigator Michael Idoko disclosed that the commission received a formal complaint from Mercy Chinwo detailing how Onyedikachukwu purportedly misappropriated royalties meant for the singer. Despite concerted efforts to apprehend him, Onyedikachukwu remains elusive, prompting the EFCC’s urgent plea for an arrest warrant.
