BENIN CITY – Ismail Abdulazeez Mantu Reporting
Efforts orchestrated by All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Jarret Tenebe, to delay proceedings at the Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal through the harassment of witnesses have fallen flat as Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) witnesses confidently took the stand.
Their testimonies at the Election Petition Tribunal exposed glaring irregularities, including claims of unlawful result exclusions by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Truth Live News confirmed that the first PDP witness, identified as PW1, delivered a shocking revelation during cross-examination.
He detailed how INEC allegedly excluded results from 76 polling units in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area.
According to PW1, these excluded results significantly impacted the overall collation process, casting doubts on the credibility of the gubernatorial election that declared the APC’s Darlington Okpebholo as the winner.
In his testimony, PW1 presented documentary evidence that highlighted discrepancies in result sheets. He alleged that despite valid votes recorded in these polling units, INEC inexplicably failed to include them in the final tally, leaving thousands of votes unaccounted for.
The PDP’s legal team, representing its candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, expressed confidence in the tribunal proceedings, noting that the truth is beginning to surface despite alleged intimidation tactics by the APC camp.
For the PDP, the stakes are high, as they hope the revelations will lead to a significant overturn of the election results in favor of Dr. Asue Ighodalo.
