Twenty-three bandits have surrounded themselves to the overwhelming fire powers of the Nigerian Army, troops of 6 Brigade and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS).
The submission happened during a raid on a notorious bandit camp located in Angwan Bala, Kambari general area of Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Acting Assistant Director, 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, Captain Olubodunde Oni.
According to him, the troops while acting on credible intelligence regarding the movement of suspected bandits, conducted a fighting patrol to the identified hideout.
The Acting Assistant Director stated that on sighting the patrol team, the bandits opened fire, prompting an immediate and overwhelming response from the troops.
He further stated that in the ensuing firefight, one bandit was neutralized, while 23 others, including 19 male and 4 female surrendered without further resistance.
Items recovered from the camp included 48 daggers and jack knives, cache of arms and ammunition, including, 4 AK-47 rifles, 5 AK-47 rifle magazines, 80 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 1 English made pistol, 2 locally made guns, 28 cutlasses, 16 motorcycles.
