The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally recognized Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye as the substantive National Secretary of the party, following an emergency meeting held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
In a communique issued after the meeting, to Truth Live News and other reputable media houses, the BoT reaffirmed its role as a key organ of the party, citing Section 13 (1)(r) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017), which establishes its authority within the party’s structure. The Board also emphasized its constitutional responsibility under Section 32 (5)(a) to uphold moral standards and call to order any party officer whose conduct does not align with the party’s values.
A major highlight of the meeting was the BoT’s adoption of the report presented by its committee, led by senior lawyer Barr. Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), on the status of the National Secretary. The Board, after extensive deliberations, formally recognized Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye as the legitimate National Secretary of the PDP in compliance with the declaratory judgment of the High Court of Enugu, which was subsequently upheld by the Court of Appeal.
The BoT urged the National Working Committee (NWC) to immediately recognize and swear in Udeh-Okoye, emphasizing that there was no contrary or overriding court ruling on the matter. It further called on all party organs, stakeholders, and democracy development partners to respect and abide by the
