The North Central Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a strong rebuke to dissent within its ranks, has called for an end to the denigration of key party figures including President Bola Tinubu, National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.

Truth Live News reports that the warning was issued in a joint statement by the National Vice Chairman of APC North Central, Mu’azu Bawa Rijau, and the Zonal Secretary, Yakubu Adamu, following a meeting of the APC zonal leaders and state chairmen in Abuja on Friday.

Recent criticisms have primarily targeted President Tinubu and other high-profile APC leaders, with figures like former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and ex-Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi leading the charge. Amaechi has publicly stated that Nigerians should prepare to defend their mandate in the 2027 elections, warning against the tactics politicians might use to retain power, including “stealing, maiming, and killing.”

El-Rufai, distancing himself from the APC, described it as a ‘zero-man show’ and encouraged opposition parties to form a coalition to challenge the ruling party.

The statement from the APC North Central leadership also addressed the social media attacks on Senator Akume, linked to his ongoing disputes with Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia.

Rijau emphasized the party’s readiness to enforce sanctions, stating, “The zonal party leadership wish to condemn and unequivocally reject this development. We make bold to say that these groups are not only unrecognised, they are nothing but usurpers and interlopers.”

The statement added, “The leadership of the party in the zone wish to pass a vote of confidence on our leaders, particularly Akume and all our five elected governors in the zone, whose contributions to the growth of the party in the zone and indeed the country have been acknowledged by all and sundry.”

The APC North Central leaders further warned, “We are by this statement warning these persons to desist forthwith from any guise to disparage, attack and insult our leaders. Failure to do so will attract the full weight of the law.” They also expressed their support for the Ganduje-led National Working Committee and reaffirmed their loyalty to the party’s founding principles and the vision of President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.
