Gov. Otu Renames State’s Joint Security, Donates 30 Vehicles To Mark First Phase Of Plans To Deploy 100

CROSS RIVER, CALABAR – Few days after the Governor of Cross River State Sen. Bassey Edet Otu, Commissioned a Dualized Road With Bus Lanes In Bayelsa, he also has in Cross River Donated 30 vehicles to reaffirmed his commitment to security of life and property.

At the official handover ceremony, where he renamed the state’s Joint Task Force Operation from Operation Akpakwu to Operation Okwok, he said, this marks the first phase of a larger plan to deploy a total of 100 vehicles to enhance security operations across the state.

For instance, the joint task force comprises personnel from the Nigerian Army, Police, Air Force, Navy, Department of State Services (DSS), Immigration Service, and Correctional Service.

“Cross River State is safer than ever,” the Governor said. “Cases of kidnapping have declined significantly, and robbery is nearly nonexistent.”

While attributing the achievements to the dedication of the security forces, Sen. Otu said he is committed to lasting peace and unity.

“Security is a shared responsibility. If you see something, say something,” the Governor who said this in Calabar. Also assured investors that Cross River remains a secure destination for business, with the government dedicated to protecting investments and ensuring security.

In a social media post, Nsa Gill, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Otu stated that he emphasized his administration’s zero-tolerance to crime and outlined future security plans.

According to him, the plans include strengthening marine patrols, acquiring gunboats and drones for advanced surveillance, and recruiting personnel for a homeland security structure.

Meanwhile, “Don’t let the sweetness of the bees fool you. Bees are highly territorial and fiercely protect their hive,” the State Security Adviser, Maj. Gen. Okoi Ubi Obono (Rtd) warned.

Obono said Operation Okwok is there to secure Cross River—producing honey when needed but stinging when provoked and described the initiative as a milestone in the state’s fight against crime.

Truth Live News gathered that the Commissioner of Police, CP Gyogon Augustine Grimah, described the donation as “festival of vehicles.”
