NIGERIA, SURVEYORS – The Nigerian Senate President, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, has been honored as a Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV).
In his acceptance speech at the 2025 Fellowship Induction Ceremony, Akpabio expressed deep gratitude for the recognition, describing it as “not just a privilege” but “a testament” to the values of service, excellence, and dedication to Nigeria’s progress.

According to Akpabio, estate surveyors and valuers are the “silent architects of Nigeria’s urban transformation” and “custodians of our nation’s physical wealth.”
He emphasized that their work ensures well-planned cities, secured investments, and a solid foundation for future development. Without their expertise, he noted, “the skylines of Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt would remain concepts, not realities.”
Receiving the award, Akpabio stated that he did so “not as an individual, but as a representative of the Nigerian Senate” and “a servant of the Nigerian people.”
He dedicated the honor to the 10th National Assembly and the citizens of Nigeria, who have entrusted their leaders with governance.
For him, this recognition is “not just a celebration of what has been done, but a call to action” to improve housing affordability, transparency in land administration, and sustainable infrastructure development.
Reaffirming the Senate’s dedication to progressive governance and economic empowerment, Akpabio assured the audience that the award would only motivate him further.
“If anything, it will only spur me to work harder, to push further, and to serve better,” he declared.

Addressing professionals in the real estate and valuation sector, he acknowledged their critical role in national development and assured them that policymakers are attentive to their concerns.
“The policies we craft, the laws we enact, the reforms we champion—all must align with the vision of a Nigeria where economic growth is not just a statistic, but a reality that uplifts every citizen.”
Akpabio concluded by expressing gratitude to the leadership of NIESV and all distinguished guests present.
He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the Nigerian people, emphasizing that “governance is about service, and service is about people.”
He pledged to continue working for national advancement, rooted in the belief that “we rise as one.” Ending on a patriotic note, he prayed, “May God bless NIESV. May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
