The Lagos State Police Command has rescued six children, aged 7-13, who were abandoned in a residential house within an estate in the Ejigbo area of Lagos.
According to CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, the children’s mother had left them in the care of a caregiver while she underwent medical treatment abroad.
The police received a tip on Tuesday around 12 p.m. that the children were staying alone in the building.
The case was initially handled by the Ejigbo Police Station but has since been transferred to the Gender Unit in Ikeja.
The children are currently in a protective shelter through the Ministry of Youth and Social Development.
Efforts are underway to contact the mother, and investigations are ongoing to gather more details about the case.
