The management of Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Professor Armaya’u Hamisu Bichi, has refuted circulating claims that Saidu Abdulkadir, popularly known as “Emir,” was a bandit or terrorist.

Recall Truth Live News reported that Abdulkadir, a 400-level student in the Department of Agricultural Extension, was fatally shot on Sunday by a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

In an official statement released on Monday, the university clarified:

“The Management of Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), Katsina State, wishes to clarify to the general public that Sani Abdulkadir, otherwise known as ‘Emir,’ who died on Sunday, 23rd February 2025, resulting from a gunshot, is not a bandit or terrorist but a student of the university.”

According to preliminary investigations, Abdulkadir had boarded a commercial motorcycle to his residence when security operatives flagged down the rider. The motorcyclist had reportedly been under surveillance for three days following a recent bandit attack in the Safana area. However, upon failing to stop for interrogation, security personnel mistakenly opened fire, fatally injuring Abdulkadir.

While mourning the loss of the student, the university extended its condolences to his family, fellow students, and the entire academic community. The management urged the public to disregard any false reports linking the deceased to criminal activities, reaffirming his status as a bonafide student of FUDMA.

To pacify aggrieved students and the university community, Professor Bichi announced a one-week Mid-Semester Break, effective from Monday, February 24, 2025. The statement read:

“The Senate of Federal University Dutsin-Ma has announced a one-week Mid-Semester Break starting from Monday, 24th February. The Vice Chancellor, Professor Armaya’u Hamisu Bichi, announced the Senate’s decision and advised students to vacate the campus before 6:00 PM on Monday.”

The university management expressed hope for a peaceful academic environment upon resumption.
