The Anambra Police Command has taken full responsibility for the escape of two suspects linked to the abduction and murder of Anambra State House of Assembly member, Justice Azuka.
According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the command’s spokesman, the police acknowledge operational lapses that led to the suspects’ escape.
The lawmaker, who represented Onitsha 1 Constituency, was kidnapped by gunmen on December 24, 2024, and his lifeless body was later recovered on the Second Niger Bridge on February 6.
The two fleeing suspects were among 11 others detained in connection with the alleged murder.
Ikenga assured that the police will not rest until the fleeing suspects are re-arrested and all those involved are brought to justice.
The command has also briefed the public on the evolving security situation in the state, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and safety.
In the spirit of transparency, the command urged stakeholders to exercise restraint in their comments and reactions to avoid escalating tension.
