CROSS RIVER, CALABAR – In a bid to enhance digital governance, the Cross River State Government, in partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), is set to train over 100 government officials in e-governance.
The initiative is designed to equip public servants with digital skills to improve service delivery, enhance transparency, and streamline government operations.
Speaking on the initiative, the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Edem Darlington, emphasized the government’s commitment to leveraging technology for efficient governance.
“This training program is a strategic step towards ensuring that Cross River State remains at the forefront of digital governance in Nigeria.
“The world is evolving, and we must equip our officials with the right skills to meet modern governance demands,” he stated.

Darlington further revealed that the Honourable Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr Justin Beshel, had received formal communication regarding the program, highlighting its focus on capacity building in digital tools and innovative solutions.
He noted that participants would be exposed to international best practices in e-governance, enabling them to adopt new strategies that will improve citizen engagement and government efficiency.
According to him, “The essence of e-governance is to bridge the gap between the government and the people.
“This training will empower our officials to deploy digital solutions that will make government services more accessible, transparent, and accountable.”
As Cross River State moves towards a more digital future, Darlington expressed confidence that the initiative would serve as a model for other states in Nigeria looking to adopt similar e-governance strategies.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to technological advancement, stressing that digital transformation is a crucial component of Governor Bassey Edet Otu’s vision for a more efficient and people-centered administration.
