UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of the UK’s “full backing across the United Kingdom” in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
This pledge was made during their meeting at 10 Downing Street in London on Saturday.
Zelensky expressed his delight at having the UK as a supportive ally, stating that their continued support strengthens his country and its citizens.
Starmer reiterated that the UK stands with Ukraine “for as long as it may take”.
The Ukrainian leader also thanked the British people for their significant support since the beginning of the war.
“I want to thank the people of the United Kingdom for such big support from the very beginning of this war,” he noted.
Zelensky’s visit to London follows a heated exchange with US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance in Washington D.C .
During his UK visit, Zelensky is also scheduled to meet King Charles III at the request of the UK government.
Additionally, Starmer will host a summit of European leaders on Sunday to discuss further support for Ukraine.
