A senior police officer, CSP Modestus Ojiebe of the Kwara State Police Command, was abducted by suspected armed men along Kubwa Expressway in Abuja late Sunday night, leaving authorities on high alert.

According to intelligence sources cited by Zagazola Makama, the incident unfolded when Ojiebe’s Toyota Corolla broke down near Dei-Dei Barracks. As he attempted repairs, an ash-colored Mercedes-Benz carrying four armed occupants pulled up behind him. “The assailants searched and robbed Ojiebe and his wife of their mobile phones and ATM cards,” the sources revealed.

The situation escalated when the gunmen discovered his police identity card, prompting them to force him into their vehicle and flee, abandoning his wife and car at the scene.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Dawaki Division swiftly responded to a distress call, deploying a patrol team to the area. In a bid to secure Ojiebe’s release and capture the perpetrators, police have ramped up stop-and-search operations across entry and exit points of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The brazen abduction has heightened concerns about security along major routes in Abuja, with authorities now racing against time to rescue the officer and bring the culprits to justice.
