The Nigerian Police Force has apprehended three suspects accused of launching a violent assault on officers with machetes and other deadly weapons in the Byazhin area of Kubwa, leaving two policemen injured.
According to intelligence sources cited by Zagazola Makama, the incident unfolded on Wednesday when a patrol team responded to a distress call from a trader whose goods had been vandalized by hoodlums. “On arrival, the officers were ambushed by the miscreants armed with machetes and other dangerous weapons,” the sources revealed, detailing the ferocity of the attack.
The assault left Inspector Wabi Elisha with “a deep machete cut to his head,” while Inspector Sunday Ujah sustained injuries to his face and shoulder. “Both officers were rushed to Kubwa General Hospital, where Inspector Ujah was treated and discharged, while Inspector Elisha was referred to the National Hospital for further medical care,” the sources confirmed.
Swift action by reinforcement teams led to the arrest of three suspects: Daniel Effiong Thompson, 23; Jude Danlami Jacob Yohana; and Gabriel Ezekiel, identified as the son of the Sarkin Byazhin and the alleged ringleader of the attack. Efforts to capture other fleeing suspects are underway, with the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) now handling the case.
The arrests signal a firm police response to the brazen assault, as investigations intensify to bring all culprits to justice.
