The US has announced plans to restore military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine, following a breakthrough in negotiations between senior officials from both countries in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

In return, Ukraine has agreed to a US proposal for a temporary 30-day ceasefire, which may be extended by mutual agreement, subject to acceptance and simultaneous implementation by Russia.

The development comes after a tense meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump at the Oval Office last month, which led to the US pausing military aid and intelligence sharing.

This pause allowed Moscow’s forces to launch attacks on Ukraine using missiles and drones.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the ball is now in Russia’s court, and the US hopes Russia will accept the ceasefire proposal.

Rubio also stressed that Ukraine is ready to stop fighting and start talking, and it’s up to Russia to say yes or no to the peace offer.

Truth Live News reports that the proposed ceasefire is directed at bringing an end to the war, which has resulted in significant casualties and destruction on both sides.

However, Russia has not publicly offered any concessions, and it remains unclear whether they will accept the ceasefire proposal.
