A man from Memphis, Tennessee, was grazed by a bullet in his left thigh after his pet dog, a one-year-old pit bull named Oreo, accidentally discharged a loaded gun while jumping on the bed.
According to a police incident report, the incident occurred early Monday morning while the man was asleep beside his partner.
The dog’s paw got stuck in the trigger guard, causing the gun to fire.
The police recorded the incident as an accidental injury and did not specify the type of weapon used.
While gun violence is common in the United States, cases of animals shooting humans are rare.
