Veteran Nollywood actress and politician Hilda Dokokubo has accused Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, of planning to capture the economic soul of Rivers State.

Dokokubo made this statement in reaction to the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State and the suspension of Governor Siminalakayi Fubara and his deputy for six months.

According to reports, President Tinubu announced the state of emergency in Rivers State, suspending Governor Fubara, his deputy, and House of Assembly members for six months.

The President stated that his decision came after evaluating the political crisis in the state, which has garnered diverse reactions across the country.

In her Instagram post, Dokokubo described the President’s action as shameless, stating that he should admit he wants to annex Rivers State.

“State of emergency because we’ve had peace for two years? State of emergency because you want to capture our economic soul? State of emergency because of one man? Shameless!”

Dokokubo further emphasized, “Perhaps Mr. President should say he wants to annex Rivers State.” She also suggested that every Rivers State citizen should read George Orwell’s “Animal Farm” as a palliative, adding, “Meanwhile, someone should tell Mr. Jones to rein in his pigs.”
