Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, the newly appointed Administrator of Rivers State, has vowed to collaborate with all stakeholders to maintain law and order in the state.

Speaking to journalists at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday after his swearing-in, Ibas emphasized that restoring peace and stability was his top priority.

“I think we all understand the circumstances that brought us here,” he said. “The President has made it clear that the key issue is maintaining law and order. For any meaningful progress to take place in Rivers State, that is the utmost task.”

Ibas was sworn in by President Bola Tinubu in a brief ceremony attended by senior government officials, including Attorney General and Justice Minister Lateef Fagbemi and Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila.

His appointment follows President Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State on Tuesday, citing a prolonged political crisis. Under the emergency measures, Ibas will oversee the state’s affairs for an initial period of six months.
