NIGERIA, UYO – Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has extended his condolences to Nollywood actress Ini Edo and her family following the passing of their father, Elder (Hon.) Edo Ekim.
Speaking at the funeral on Friday at QIC Primary School, Awa Iman, Onna Local Government Area, the governor, represented by Deputy Governor Senator (Dr.) Akon Eyakenyi, described the late Ekim as a devoted Christian who lived a life of faith and love.
“Your late father was a devoted Christian who lived his life with Godly virtues and successfully implanted those values in his children and those who came in contact with him,” Eno said. “We thank God that he lived long enough to see you, his children, grow and add commendable value to our common humanity.”
Governor Eno praised Elder Ekim’s contributions to his community and his commitment to raising God-fearing children. While urging the bereaved family to uphold his legacy, he offered words of comfort.
“As sad and emotionally wrenching as this moment may be, I urge you to take solace in scripture, which reminds us that the passing of a believer is the key that opens the vault of Heaven,” he added.
Earlier, Apostle (Dr.) John Okoriko, General Overseer of Solid Rock Kingdom Church, delivered a brief exhortation, urging Christians to live righteously and build noble legacies.
Elder Edo Ekim, who passed at 86, once served as a Councillor representing Awa Ward One in the former Eket Local Government Area. He is survived by his wife, four children, and extended family members.

The funeral drew prominent figures, including former Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel and his wife, Martha, as well as dignitaries from the government, academia, and the entertainment industry.
