NIGERIA, UYO – Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has purchased 30,000 match tickets for football fans ahead of the Super Eagles’ crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Zimbabwe’s Warriors.

The match is set to take place on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

The governor’s initiative aims to mobilize maximum support for Nigeria’s national team as they push for a spot in the global tournament.

“This is a demonstration of our unwavering commitment to the Super Eagles and our love for football,” Eno said in a statement. “We want to fill the stadium with passionate fans who will cheer our team to victory.”

To ensure widespread access to the tickets, multiple distribution points have been designated across Uyo.

Beginning at 5 p.m. today, Monday, March 24, fans can collect their free tickets at: All radio stations in Akwa Ibom including De Venus Bar and Restaurant, Stadium Road, Uyo, Uyo Township Stadium, Plaza Management Committee Office, Ibom Plaza, All previous sales agents and distribution centers.

State officials have emphasized that the tickets are completely free and have warned against unauthorized sales.

“No one should buy tickets from any individual or group,” said Elder Paul Bassey, the state’s Commissioner for Sports. “Entry into the stadium is strictly by ticket, and distribution will not take place at the venue.”

Security measures have also been put in place to maintain order. Fans are expected to adhere to seating arrangements and all FIFA, CAF, and NFF regulations governing international matches.

Law enforcement agencies have been directed to ensure compliance with these guidelines.

The governor’s gesture has been widely applauded as a boost to the Super Eagles’ morale. “With the full backing of our fans, we are confident of a positive result,” said a spokesperson from the Nigerian Football Federation.

As anticipation builds, supporters are encouraged to secure their tickets early, show up in their numbers, and create a charged atmosphere that will drive the Super Eagles to victory.
