The Sokoto State Government has cautioned residents against making statements that could undermine its efforts to address insecurity in the state, following comments by Basharu Altine Guyawa suggesting the government hasn’t done enough to ensure security.

Colonel Ahmed Usman, Special Adviser to Governor Ahmed Aliyu on Security, emphasized that security is a collective responsibility, requiring the support and cooperation of both the government and citizens.

Therefore, he explained that Sensationalizing or politicizing insecurity can erode public confidence in the government’s efforts and distract from finding lasting solutions to security challenges.

The government has taken proactive steps to address security concerns, particularly in the eastern region, including a recent joint operation that resulted in the destruction of bandits’ hideouts, elimination of several bandits, and rescue of kidnap victims.

The state government has bolstered security with logistical and financial aid, restoring monthly allowances and donating patrol vehicles and motorcycles.

Regular forums with security operatives, community leaders, and stakeholders have also contributed to reducing attacks.

The government will not condone attempts to frustrate its efforts or distract from progress made in addressing security challenges, emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining peace and security.
