President Bola Tinubu has directed the recall of Salihu Abdullahi Dembos as Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
Recall that Dembos, who was appointed to the role by President Tinubu in October 2023, had briefly left the position following new appointment.
Also, President Tinubu has recalled Ayo Adewuyi, the Executive Director of News, directing him to complete his current tenure, which runs through 2027. Adewuyi was appointed by the President in 2024.
In a statement made available by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, this new directive effectively nullifies the previously announced appointments of a new Director-General (DG), Executive Director (ED) of news, Executive Director (ED) of Marketing, and Managing Director (MD) of NTA Enterprises.
The fresh appointments, approved by the President just weeks earlier, had included Rotimi Pedro as DG and Stella Din as Executive Director of News, among others.
