Office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) located at Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State was on Sunday night razed down by unknown hoodlums.
The entire building housing INEC at the local government council’s headquarters in Ogurute was destroyed leading to the loss of valuable properties.
The state fire service which has an office at Ogurute couldn’t intervene immediately after the incident occurred but waited for security to be provided for fear of being attacked.
According to sources, the entire building has been burnt down by fire before security could be provided adding that “the only thing the two fire trucks from Nsukka and Ogurute were able to do was to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby offices”.
Truthlive.net recalls that the state government had imposed a 6 pm to 6 am curfew as well as banned commercial motorcyclists in Igboeze North and its neighbouring Igboeze South LGA due to incessant attacks by gunmen.
Following the crisis that rocked the area about a month ago, security has been beefed up to curb any further eventualities yet that has not been able to fully arrest the situation.
