As Muslims prepare for the celebration of Salah this year, traders and consumers are lamenting over the hike in the prices of rams and other livestock in the market.
Traders complain of inability to make high sales as expected, consumers are also lamenting that their budgets have fallen short due to high cost of commodities.
“I have been a ram dealer, coming to Kano for over a decade, but this is the year I witnessed such high cost of rams in all the years I have been engaging in the business,” Mr Illiyasu added.
According to a buyer, he said that:
“The high price of ram as really affected my budget, I had to forgo some other expenses inorder to afford a ram which is very different from the previous years occurrence.
Muslims across the world use rams to celebrate Eid-el Kabir festival because it attracts the highest reward when compared to other livestock.
The hike in price of ram has affected both the seller and the buyer in the community.
