Cross River State governor, Sir Ben Ayade has enjoined Muslim faithful in the state and Nigeria to show love to one another and non-Muslim alike as they celebrate this year’s feast of Eid-El-Kabir.

Ayade in a goodwill message signed by his Deputy Chief Preas Secretary, Mr. Linus Obogo, urged the Muslim Ummah to shun tendencies that disunite,  by upholding unity, togetherness and peaceful co-existence with their non-practising Muslims brothers and sisters, qualities he said, are the pillars of the festival,  before, during and after the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The governor said the period offers the opportunity for sober reflection, spiritual renewal and guidance,  which Allah enjoins His faithful to imbibe as enshrined in the holy Quran.
According  to Ayade, “as you celebrate, I ask for your continuous prayers for the peace, unity and prosperity of Cross River and indeed, our country, Nigeria. For without peace and unity, we cannot co-exist and flourish as a state and country.

“As Muslims and non-Muslims, we must imbibe the lessons of obedience, loyalty and commitment  to higher authority as demonstrated in Prophet Ibraheem’s willingness to sacrifice his only  son in fulfilment of the promise made to Allah, which  Eid-el-Kabir celebration stands for.”

The governor further noted that “it is only through pulling together as one, and commitment to peace that the country can experience stability and achieve the desired progress for the fulfilment of its great potentials as a nation.”
