Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has replied the presidential candidate of ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu following his derogatory comment regarding his party.
Truthlive.net recalls that Tinubu had during APC’s rally for Governor Adegboyega Oyetola ahead of the state gubernatorial election mockingly said that the opposition parties, including the Labour Party and other seemingly small parties will labour till they die.
APC’s presidential flag-bearer also referred to the opposition parties as “mushroom parties”.
However, reacting to the troll by Tinubu after a long silence despite the condemnation the statement attracted from concerned Nigerians, Obi urged his supporters to reply those who make derogatory statement about the party with love.
Obi made this known during his visit to Osun state to campaign for Honourable Lasun Yusuf, the Governorship candidate of the Labour Party ahead of the Osun gubernatorial election sheduled for Saturday, July 16, 2022.
While addressing the mammoth crowd that graced the campaign, he said, “if they think that those who have kept Nigeria in darkness is better, they should remember that they are the ones that will suffer from the hardship they will bring when they are voted in again.”
“Your future has been stolen by some bad leaders and labour party is set to recover your stolen future for you”
Contradicting Tinubu’s statement, he said that “there is dignity in labour adding that the country can’t move from consumption economy to production economy without labour”.
He added: “Anyone who has laboured will have a reward.”
The Labour Party candidate also urged Nigerians to “disregard any politician who tries to buy their votes. He told them that if they sell their votes, the next four years will be worse. But even if they want to collect their money, they should not forget to vote with their conscience because the money they are giving to them is their money they have stolen.”
