Preliminary reports on investigation made regarding the recent attack on the Nigerian Correctional Center in Kuje indicate that some of its officials are complicit to the attack that led to the escape of about 600 inmates.
The report which was submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari showed that the breach of the Medium Security Custodial Centre was made possible with the assistance of inside forces.
Truthlive.net had reported that the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorist group had claimed responsibility for the attack in a viral video.
The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola made the revelation while speaking with state house correspondent after the National Security Council meeting on Thursday said that the report has been submitted to the President.
According to Aregbesola, the officials whose action or inaction made the assault successful have been identified.
“A preliminary report on what happened in Kuje has been sent to the President. We have identified all those whose action or inaction led to that unfortunate incident.
He explained that, “Those who shirked their responsibility will face the consequences of their action. A comprehensive report will come at the end of the investigation.”
