The governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike on Thursday July 22, signed a contract with Julius Berger and paid a huge percentage of the fee upfront, for the construction of Mgbuoba flyovers, Rumuokwuta and Azikiwe Iloabuchi roads in the state.
Through his Facebook page, the governor revealed that:
“Yesterday we signed the contract for the award of our 11th and 12th flyovers and the 1.06 km dualisation of the Azikiwe Street- Illoabuchi Road.
“Both flyovers with lengths of 1.007km and 927.5m will be at Rumuokwuta and Location junctions respectively. They are to be completed in 10 months while the Azikiwe Street- Illoabuchi Road will be delivered in 6 months”.
Governor Wike who is renowned for his matchless feats at developing his state, further gave a stern warning to the contractors to work accordingly because he is not ready to listen to any excuse, be it rain, that distorted the smooth construction of the roads.
