The Edo State Police Command has released the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Johnson Alalibo who it arrested on Thursday morning on the orders of the state governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki, according to a source close to the Bayelsa-born REC.

Truthlive.net had reported the arrest of Mr. Alalibo yesterday as sources pointed accusing fingers at the governor who was accused of going tyrannical having lost to the Legacy PDP on both sides of the law and politicking.

A source who confirmed the release of the REC to our correspondent through phone conversation informed us that Mr. Alalibo was released between 11. pm and 12midnight on Thursday and sensitive materials used for the delegates’ election were confiscated from him.

There’s been a general outcry since the arrest of Mr. Alalibo yesterday with Edo political watchers raising questions about the governor’s inability to accept defeat by the PDP legacy and move on. Others are warning the state police commissioner, Mr. Abutu Yaro, to remain neutral and don`t allow his office to be used to intimidate, harass and oppress other public servants who are carrying out their legitimate duties as provided by the constitution of the country.
