Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has assured fans that Robert Lewandowski’s goal drought in preseason friendlies should not be a major concern ahead of the La Liga fixtures.

Barcelona finished their pre-season tour of the United States on Saturday night, defeating the New York Red Bulls 2-0.

Lewandowski, who forced his way to Barcelona from Bayern Munich, has yet to score for his new team, but Xavi is unconcerned.

“He has been scoring in training, as the ball was going in yesterday and then today it didn’t, but it’s normal,” Xavi told reporters, speaking of Lewandowski after the Saturday night win.

“The same thing also happened with Luis Suarez or Ferran Torres when they arrived.

“He is going to score goals, even though he brings much more than goals.

“I think Raphinha will help us a lot too, as he is a spectacular signing for this season and future ones.”

Xavi added when asked if the Catalan giants would bring in more players before the end of the transfer window:

“I don’t [know] if there will be more, it all depends on the financial fair play and the finances.

“There will be exits and I’ve been clear about that.”
