Indigenes and residents of Ekpoma in Esan West Local Government Area LGA of Edo state have blocked the ever busy Ekpoma-Auchi road in protest over the deplorable state of their roads.

According to the spokesman of a group under the aegis of Ekpoma Liberation Movement ELM, there is an urgent call to the governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki to come fix their roads.

According to him, Ekpoma which used to enjoy good amenities from previous governments, have been subjected to rejection by the present governor due to reasons they cannot explain.

The spokesman said Ekpoma has been turned into a forest that when it rains, no one is able to go out for fear of being swept away by flood.

The roads have almost been turned into gullies and have become death traps for users.

He further stated that today marks the first day of the protest and it will continue till the governor responds and comes to alleviate their sufferings.

Meanwhile, commuters, especially those going on long distance travels, have resorted to ply other roads as movement was stalled on the road by the protester.
