A 45-year old man identified as Kawu Sale has been arrested by the Police for allegedly defiling a 10-year old minor in Tsohon Tike, Mayo Belwa Local Government Area in Adamawa state.
Sale who lives in Tsohon Tike is a neighbor to the victim. He lured the boy to his room and had carnal knowledge of him through his anus.
The father, Akure Usman and other community members then took the matter to the Divisional Police Headquarters.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the spokesman of the state police command, SP Suleiman Nguroje reported that preliminary investigation so far reveals that on the same date at 11am, the victim was sighted running out of the suspect’s room. Upon interrogation, the victim revealed his father and other persons what the suspect did to him.
“Angered by what the accused did, the neighbors immediately headed for the suspect’s room.
“But when he saw the mob coming towards his room, he attempted killing himself by stabbing himself severally on the neck and stomach.” Nguroje reported.
Nguroje further spoke that the State Commissioner of Police, CP SK Akande has directed that the case be transferred to the State CID to take over investigation and prosecution.
However, Sale the suspect is currently admitted in the hospital in Yola, where he is receiving treatment for his wounds.
