Babatunde Onakoya, an All Progressives Congress chieftain in Ogun State, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party with his adherents.

Onakoya, an ally of former governor of the state, Ibikunle Amosun, widely known as Debasco, led his Debasco political organization into the PDP.

Onakoya and his supporters officially joined the party on Wednesday at a celebration hosted at his Atiba mansion in Ijebu Ode.

Before handing over the PDP flag to Onakoya, the Ogun PDP Chairman, Sikirulahi Ogundele, said that people are flocking to the opposition party on a daily basis since it is clear that the ruling party has failed miserably both at the state and national levels.

Ogundele disclosed that just last Friday, over 10,000 people defected into PDP in the state saying that even before the 2023 general elections people have made up their minds to end the hardship foisted on them by rejecting the APC.

He described Onakoya as a big fish and another influential political leader in Ogun East who is coming into the opposition party with over 5,000 followers.
