The War of attrition between the duo of Godwin Obaseki, Edo State governor, and Phillip Shuaibu, his deputy, on the one hand, and Jaret Tenebe, deputy chairman, All Progressives Congress, APC, Edo State chapter, isn’t going to end anytime soon after another video of the party chieftain surfaced, recently, where he again made mind-blowing revelations, alleging stunning lack of financial transparency against the governor and his deputy.
To both, Tenebe says he has nothing to fear in his ongoing war against the governor, stating, in his own words, that he has long signed up for death.
He said: “After my last press conference, people have been calling me; some praising me and others warning me to be careful of Gov Godwin Obaseki and Phillip Shuaibu”.
“My answer to that is that when I left home to join the army, I told my parents goodbye and since then I have not even gone back.
“I am here to further keep a tab on the thieving and pilfering in Edo State,” Tenebe said in his opening statement [See video].
Tenebe made an earlier video release challenging Obaseki and Shuaibu on claims made by Rivers State governor, Nyisom Wike, to the effect that President Mohammadu Buhari has since paid off 13 percent oil derivation money owed oil-producing states since 1999 [see the link to earlier video https://youtu.be/s2zXgr-1RzU
He also made incriminating disclosures on Shuaibu, particularly alleging that the Edo Deputy governor was once a guest in an EFCC facility, manacled like a common criminal.
But in the new video released by Tenebe, he insists that no clear explanation has been given on the said money matter, even making further allegations of another N16 billion unaccounted for, being a refund for federal roads repaired by former Governor Adams Oshiomole but was paid to Obaseki.
“The last time after my press conference, they came up with a defense of how the money was spent. But so far, what Wike has said is different from what the Edo State governor, Obaseki has said, except the governor is talking about different money entirely.
“Wike said that all the 13 percent oil derivation owed to the state governments since 1999 has been paid to the states and that is what he has been using to develop his state.
Even the governor of Bayelsa has come out to say that they have received their own.
Other states are coming out to say that they have received their own, is Edo state and Obaseki’s case now different, or are there other funds he is receiving in installment like the Paris Fund that makes him say that they have not received their money in full?
He should tell the state because Wike was clear in the way he said it.
“Again, a letter surfaced on the internet, signed by Ita Enang, clearly stating what Edo state has received, so Godwin Obaseki and Phillip Shuaibu, you have a case to answer.
In his words: “Until you explain what you received and how you spent it you ain’t go to know peace. We aren’t gonna leave you alone.
“There are a lot of cases you have to answer to on money you have collected,” Tenebe challenged.
He further raised another issue on federal refunds on road projects in the state.
“When Adams Oshiomole was governor, he fixed a lot of roads, just like we have problems with roads around Ekpoma.
“And when he left, the federal government refunded more than N16 billion to your government and you collected that money.
You never disclosed to the state, just the way you are shady on the 13 percent derivation money right now,” alleged Tenebe.
