President Bola Tinubu has embarked on a two-week vacation to the United Kingdom, his 27th foreign trip since assuming office 16 months ago.

This trip comes just two weeks after his return from London, where he met with King Charles III. According to his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the vacation is part of Tinubu’s yearly leave.

Tinubu plans to use this time as a working vacation and retreat to reflect on his administration’s economic reforms. His travels have been a subject of interest, with this being his fourth trip to the UK.

Other countries he has visited include Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Benin Republic, South Africa, Ghana, India, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Ethiopia, Senegal, and Qatar.

Notably, Tinubu’s foreign trips have been frequent, with over 10 nations visited in the past year alone .

His travel expenses have also been under scrutiny, with reports indicating he spent over N3.4 billion on local and foreign travel within six months of assuming office.

Despite this, Tinubu has emphasized that his trips aim to promote Nigeria’s economic interests and attract investors.

The president is expected to return to Nigeria after his two-week leave expires, with his administration’s economic reforms likely to be a key focus upon his return.
