The Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Sen (Dr) Akon Eyakenyi, has called on the women folks to propagate and establish faith in their various homes and that by so doing the World will change.
She made the call at the Annual Convention of The Women’s Fellowship, Methodist Church Nigeria, Eket Diocese.
Eyakenyi while delivering a keynote address on Saturday in Eket said the family is the smallest unit of society, noting that If women can all propagate and establish the faith in their homes, the World will change.
Inducted Into the Women’s Fellowship, Methodist Church Nigeria, Eyakenyi challenged Christian women to emulate the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31:10-31 by working hard and being supportive of their families as well as the needy in the society.
“Our biggest contributions to our congregations is making our homes stable, healthy and spiritually sound,” the deputy Governor said, “Susanna Wesley’s impact was largely within her family but today, it has engulfed the entire World.”
Speaking on the theme of the convention “Women: The True Contenders Of The Faith” she said christian women are to give due attention to the spiritual, physical and material well – being of their respective families as the foundation of their service to God.
“Methodism was born through the influence of Susanna Wesley, who taught her children the ways of God,” she recalled.
Going down memory lane Dr Eyakenyi also recalled that she was born a Methodist and her parents were born Methodists and remained so till death.
While commending Methodist Church Nigeria for keeping the faith, she noted the fact that although marriage took her from the Church, she has retained her connection with the Church.
