The wife of the Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Patience Umo Bassey Eno, has attended the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA 22nd Physicians’ Week held in Uyo.
Pastor Eno felicitated the association, urging them to continue to render their selfless services as partner in the interest of Akwa Ibom people.
“I felicitate you all and acknowledge your contributions to the successes recorded in the fight against drug abuse, Gender Based Violence and other vices bedevilling our society,” she said.
The Governor’s wife was represented by the wife of former Military Governor of the State, Mrs. Funmi Nkanga.
The first Lady said the administration of Governor Umo Bassey Eno prided itself in its ARISE Agenda.
“As you are aware, it remains committed to sustaining and improving on the gains recorded by the immediate past administration in the health sector.”
The Chairman, Nigerian Medical Association, Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Emem Abraham, while speaking to visitors and participants at the 2023 Physicians’ week celebration, said the health sector is “weighed down” by loads of problems.
Reflecting on the stress they went through from training to specialisation, Abraham said the event was meant to celebrate the contributions of physicians to saving lives and serving their communities.
With the theme, ‘This is our Chance To get it Right in the Health Sector.” Dr Abraham noted that the loads of problems are not insurmountable, if given the right diagnosis and treatment.
The event which was attended by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olatoye Durosinmi, a representative of the Head of Service, Elder Effiong Essien and a representative of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Professor Nyaudo Ndaeyo, featured Goodwill messages.
